(dancer)

Maurial Spearim is an Indigenous woman from the Cawubuwan Guniigal clan of the Gamilaraay nation on her fathers side and on her mother’s side she is from the Kooma nation. It is no surprise that Maurial is in the creative arts world, from performing traditional song and dance since she could walk, to playing Helen in Helen of Troy, to Julius Caesar in Julius Caesar, to discovering the wonders of performing with Travel Art Dance Company, which has lead her to expand the realms of dance and theatre.

Maurial has also undertaken training at Southbank Tafe QLD in a Diploma of Performing Arts and a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts in a Bachelor of Dramatic Art. Maurial is interested in exploring dance and theatre through the expressions of the body and the utterance of voice, where art forms are combined to create a story evoking of past, present, race, gender, age to a formless progression of life.
