meah velik-lord
(artistic director)
Meah began her dance training at Mangala Studios of Yoga and Creative Dance, where she has been dancing since childhood. With a strong background in improvisation (Mangala Studios, Marion Lester, Anne O’Keeffe), Meah has also undertaken training in gymnastics and acrobatics (Wesley College Gymnastics, The Womens Circus, Wesley Lions cheerleading) and contemporary dance (Chunky Move, Tracy Ogle, Sophia Cowen). Prior to founding Travel Art Dance Company, Meah choreographed for Mangala Studios and University of Melbourne productions, as well as a diverse range of independent works in collaboration with other visual and performing artists.
Meah has a particular interest in the relationship between choreographed dance, improvisation and acrobatic movement in performance. Her current work also focuses on exploring the dialogue between audience and performer, and the collaborative process in devising both improvised and choreographed work.
