susana gonzalez-revilla
(dancer)
Susana is originally from Panama, where she started dancing at age four at the Teresa Mann Dance Academy. After a hiatus, during which she focused her energies on competitive horseback riding, she was able to rekindle her love of dancing while studying Visual Arts at university in the United States’ Sarah Lawrence College. There she danced under the direction of Barbara Forbes, Sarah Rudner and Emily Devine, gathering tools from classical dance to inform her contemporary and improvisation practice. Going back to Panama she had the privilege of dancing under the direction of Analida Galindo and Milvia Martinez, two of that country’s most prominent contemporary dancers.
Susana recently moved to Australia, where she studies at the Victorian College of the Arts, VCAM, to enrich her practice as a painter and sculptor. She was also fortunate enough to find the wonderful Mangala Studios of Yoga and Creative Dance, where she met fellow Travel Art dancer, Rachel Orzech and was invited to dance with the company, falling thus in love with its ideals and wonderful dancers. Susana is currently undertaking Anne O’ Keeffe’s Alchemy improvisation series.
